Loving a baby is easy….
Babies are amazing and squishy and soft and unlike anything else in the entire world. Loving a baby is easy…growing, birthing and raising one is a whole other ball game! Becoming pregnant with my daughter ten years ago changed my life and totally rocked my world. All the fantasizing and dreaming about motherhood was gone. This was for real. She was real. Motherhood was real.
I knew my newborn would be all the things that I loved about babies…soft skin, peach-fuzz hair, baby lips and toes, and teeny tiny hands. But what I didn't really digest prior to pregnancy was the on-slot of needs that was going to kick down my front door and stare me in the face! I was becoming aware of all that motherhood requires.
If you are expecting, maybe you can relate to that anxious feeling. Mentally, you are taking on a brand new load of thoughts and decisions that eventually result in hundreds of choices you have to make for yourself and your coming arrival. Physically, you are changing daily. Your pre-baby body is gone and your new, shared body is unfamiliar, bigger, awkward and more uncomfortable as the weeks progress. And spiritually you are preparing your heart for the love and care of your child that God has given you.
He sees you.
Pregnancy brings forth lots of needs and it can be overwhelming. It is easy to fear and even despair at times when the weight of motherhood sinks in. But God gives us hope in His word to comfort our burdened hearts. “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Jesus is Lord of the universe and Lord of all the money, time and energy you will ever need. He is also generous. He doesn’t cling to His riches, He lavishes us with His goodness. God delights when we come to Him with our needs and we choose to trust that He can and will meet them.
Spend some time today sharing your burdens with Him and let the truth of His word bring you comfort and peace. Do not fear; you are not alone. Do not worry; He sees you. Do not doubt; He hears you. God is good and He is not just able to provide...He LOVES to provide!
