We all have a heart hunger.
We all know what hunger pains feel like. Several times a day we have to fill our stomachs to avoid the ache and, even then, our hunger is only temporarily satisfied.
We also have a spiritual hunger and thirst. Deep in the heart of each person is an ache, a heart hunger for God. In Psalm 63:1, David says, “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” Every person, even if they are not aware, was created by God and for God. Our spirits are starving for Him. And just like we eat to satisfy physical hunger, we also try relentlessly to satisfy our heart hunger.
One of our desires with Perfect Pregnancy is to help you prepare your heart for motherhood. The heart of a mother is a beautiful thing, unlike anything else in God’s creation. It is fierce, protective and beaming with joy over her children. I have heard people say after having a baby, “My heart is so full!” Joy and love for your baby will make you feel good and full. It’s totally normal, human, and motherly to feel like your baby will satisfy the deepest desires of your heart. But the truth is, even the immense love for a baby will never fill the hunger in our hearts. Only Jesus, the Bread of Life, can satisfy our deepest desires
Enjoy the feast of relationship with Him.
The Bible says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied (Matthew 5:6).” But how? Just as we eat and drink in order to sustain physical life, we feed on Christ in order to fulfill our spiritual lives. He is food for our soul, just as bread is food for our bodies. His Word nourishes, sustains, and matures us spiritually, and makes it possible for us to have the life and the character of Christ. Psalm 107:9 says, “For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.”
Jesus came to be our daily gift of provision and grace…He is our daily bread. Deuteronomy 8:3 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.” The written word (the Bible) reveals the living word (the person of Jesus) and Jesus Himself supplies strength for abundant life and peace that satisfies our heart hunger.
Today prepare your heart for motherhood by drinking Him in and enjoying the feast of relationship with Him. Let Him serve you with the bread that will not perish. That bread is Jesus. He is the bread that gives TRUE LIFE!
